Common Questions

At HalfUnit, we know that taking the first step toward joining a new community or program can raise many questions. Below are some of the most common questions we receive from youth, volunteers, and partners — along with clear answers to help you get started.

1. What is HalfUnit?

+

HalfUnit is a project by Youth Support Center Poland that supports young people who feel "in transition" — such as international students, migrants, returnees, or youth facing educational or social challenges. Our goal is to help them reconnect, rebuild, and feel whole again through mentorship, community engagement, and empowerment programs.

2. Who can join HalfUnit's programs?

+

HalfUnit welcomes:

  • International students studying in Poland
  • Migrant and refugee youth seeking integration support
  • Polish youth returning from abroad
  • Youth who have had interruptions in their education
  • Young volunteers who want to make a social impact

If you fall into any of these categories, you're welcome to apply and become part of our community.

3. How can I participate in HalfUnit's programs?

+

You can join by filling out the registration form on our "Get Involved" page. Choose the program that best fits your interests or situation, and our team will contact you with the next steps.

4. Do I need to pay to join?

+

No. Most of our programs are completely free of charge. HalfUnit is supported by Youth Support Center Poland and partner organizations to ensure accessibility for all youth participants.

5. What kind of support does HalfUnit provide?

+

We offer:

6. I'm an international student — how can HalfUnit help me?

+

HalfUnit provides mentoring, Polish language assistance, and cultural integration activities designed to make your transition easier. You'll connect with both Polish and international peers, making it easier to build friendships and adapt to life in Poland.

7. How can I volunteer with HalfUnit?

+

You can sign up as a volunteer through our "Get Involved" page. We offer opportunities in event coordination, language exchange, youth mentorship, and social outreach. You'll receive training and certificates for your contributions.
